Mentor’s Corner #1: Successful Personal Trainer & the attributes to become a personal trainer?

Mentor Corner #1 – For years there have been many discussions on what it takes to be a good personal trainer. We have people on one end of the spectrum demanding personal trainers to be certified while we also have people on the other end questioning the capability of certified personal trainers. Some say they don’t learn anything at all from their PT certification. We also receive feedback from employers who will hire personal trainers based on their ability sell personal training packages and think certification is irrelevant. Well, who is right?

We are excited to present a new series called FEA’s Mentor’s Corner. Join our host @linoralow and the Founder of FEA @jerrican.tan as they speak about all things related to the fitness industry.

Episode 1 talks on What it takes to be a successful Personal Trainer and the attributes to become a personal trainer. Jerrican highlighted the following pillars of a successful personal trainer: –

1) Ability to build rapport – so the client feels comfortable working with the PT and able to share information

2) Certification – that the PT meets the industry standards (most importantly how to train clients safe and effectively)

3) Business Skills – So they can promote themselves and have a sustainable business to pay the bills

4) Experience in a particular – They must be a role model and achieve a success in any field of fitness (because they are going to lead others)

5) Programme Personalization – Be able to fit the programme into the client not the other way around.

Watch the full discussion and share with us your thoughts too and what you think makes a personal trainer successful.
